Author Topic: Tormach moved from Mach 3 to Mach 4 - Feedrates 2X what is requested  (Read 2032 times)

Hello,

I recently moved my Tormach 1100 from Mach3 to Mach4 and my feedrates are 2X what is commanded (i.e. F20 shows as 40 on the screen), and one snapped endmill later while watching my program haul hiney I believe what the DRO is showing.

Running Mach4 Hobby and ESS combination.

I was very careful to copy the settings from my Mach3 profile and I don't see anything obvious.

I have not looked too deeply at this yet, but I figure I'm not the first to see this.

Any advice where to look first?

In the meantime, I just halved my rates in my CAM setup...

Thanks,
Danny Brija

Hi,
may I suggest measuring the elapsed time for a  linear move and compare with what you expected.

One possiblilty is that Mach4 is going to fast or another is that Mach3 had been going to slow. Accurate measurement
will be the only way to sort out which.

Hi,
have you actually measured/timed it so you know exactly what speed its doing?

Not yet. I will debug the problem this weekend.

You were exactly right! Mach 3 was going slow. My Mach 4 setup is dead on. I measured several feeds/distances and all were 100% on.

Hi,
I've encountered a few situations where Mach4 did not do as I expected and thought I'd discovered a bug. In just about every case it is because I did not understand
how Mach4 works so it was not in fact a fault with Mach4 but rather my understanding/expectation that was wrong.

Would appear you've just had a lesson in the same vein.
