Need spindle orientation for tool changer
« on: January 23, 2018, 09:08:43 AM »
Hello,
for my planned toolchanger I need spindle orientation.  Actual I only use the analog output on J12 for spindle speed control. My drive is a Kollmorgen servo motor with a S600 amplifier.
The S600 supports a incremental-encoder interface output with A, B and Z
Has someone experience of how to do something like this
Many thanks in advance
Florian

Hello,
had a quick look to S600 Manual. it has a internal Position control.
maybe you can use this, an enable the positioning via digital Input.
Do the feedback (in Position) via digital Output.
thats how i did it on my machine, but with a Lenze 8400 Topline
controller.

Tom
anything is possible, just try to do it.
if you find some mistakes, in my bad bavarian english, they are yours.

Hi Tom,
thank you for your quick answer. That's what I thought, too. Switching between speed and position control should work. But I don't know how to move to index position.
Maybe there is a Kollmorgen specialist here who knows how to trigger this via a second input.
Unfortunately, I don't find the software "Drive" very intuitive.
Greetings from Lower Bavaria  ;D

It might be possible to align the encoder so that it aligns with the proper position and then home the spindle to the index pulse from Mach.
