My Simple Screen for Touch
« on: June 13, 2007, 08:43:31 PM »

Here is some captures of my simple screen set for my router.  Artistic it is not!! ;D

Touch screens that others have posted are too dark and hard to see on my old CRT touch monitor in a well lit shed.

Hence the bright (read garish) colours and large buttons.

I have not bothered with the diagnostics pages as Mach has the handy ability to have a second screen set available.

My second screen set is just the standard Mach screen so that has all the extra features.  It is accessed with the "Alt Screen" button.

I have made extensive use of "two state" buttons which will either change colour and or icon to indicate a different state.

Very much designed for my particular router and the way I work.  That's the great thing about Mach having a screen designer.

I would encourage more people to have a go at making screens to suit their own machines and methods.

Greg

EDIT:  Made some changes. Decided I did not want on screen jog buttons. Taking up room and I don't use them. ;D

Greg,
Great screen, simple and to the point. I really like the idea of icons and vibrant colors.
This will work well on small touch screens.
Look forward to seeing the .set file

OK well I was not going to post the set file but here it is.

This screen is not likely to suit any one else but me but maybe you might want
to poke around in it with Screen4 to see what I have done.

My point is that anyone can do a screen that suits their way of working.  If I can do it then any body can.  ;D

My aim was a simple easy to see screen set.  Not art. :)

Unlike Ynneb, Satiniuk and others I have not done complex JPEG backgrounds with transparent buttons placed over it.

Although there are good reasons for doing it that way.

I have stayed with separate PNGs for buttons etc so that makes it very easy to make changes if I want them.

As my methods of using my machine change or evolve.

These things evolve  ;D

Also I now have a 12" LCD touch screen which has a 800 x 600 resolution so real estate is at a premium.

Still need big buttons for my fat stubby fingers.  :)  And bright colours are still my preference.

So these pics are an update.

Really like the idea of colour coded large buttons. I also use touch screen and struggle with pushing buttons with empty pen. Unfortunately mu mill is 4axis and I cant use this marvel as is then is the question what soft you used to create this screens I would try to add an A axis don’t  know if I can brain storm  this by myself but scared to ask for your help. Thanks.
