Mach 3 problems with computer printer port
« on: January 10, 2017, 04:47:51 PM »
Hi. I think that my new computer running new Windows 10 is not sending the mach 3 signals to the breakout board. I have tried to test the printer ports outlet port for voltage as I saw on a tube video, but I am getting know voltage readings.I also tried getting a voltage reading from the breakout to driver motor outlet pins still know readings.I have ran the computer test in windows and it says that the port is ok.
I am at a total loss what to do next.
Anyone else had this problem, and did you find a answer.

Sorry to say but you cannot use the LPT printer port with windows 10.

Requirements if using the parallel port for machine control:

Desktop PC (Laptops are not supported) with at least one parallel port
32-bit version of Windows 2000, Windows XP, Windows Vista, or Windows 7 (64-bit versions will not work)
1Ghz CPU
512MB RAM
Non-integrated Video Card with 32MB RAM(Large G-code files, especially 3D files will require a video card with 512MB RAM or higher)

If you need to use Win10 then you will have to use an external motion controller (Smooth Stepper, etc.)

Yes indeed the ESS will work just fine with Win10 64 bit and Mach3 (it will also work with Mach4 if you want to update at a later stage).

I think you should also check out other motion controllers (I have only mentioned the ESS because that is what I use).

May I suggest that (if you have not done so already) you also join the Warp 9 forum http://www.warp9td.com/index.php/kunena/index
