Cloning a setup...
« on: September 10, 2016, 10:09:26 AM »
I need to copy the setup for my Bridgeport conversion to another profile so i can tweak a few settings as it uses an auxiliary spindle and has different homing, motor VFD, spindle speeds etc

I guess i need to create a new profile first to get all the folders for macros' ?

Then copy the .xml, rename it and use it?

Does that method copy all the settings for the CSMIO etc?

Thanks

Ok, i think i have it, used the Mach-Loader, chose "Create a profile" then chose the clone subject and gave it a new name.
Seems to have worked but only created default macros and not the ones in the source folder, and no i didn't select "Install default macros'" ;)

Not critical, hopefully it will work ok when i do on the mill.

The way I prefer to do things is copy and paste the xml to the desktop, rename and then cut/paste back to Mach3 folder, doing it the way you did is just the same though.
Your macros will not be copied however, when you open the new profile a new macro folder will be created and the default macros will be put in there.
If you then  go to the macro folder of the original profile, copy all macros, open new profiles macro folder and paste then next time you open that profile it will have all the macros that were in the original.

Does not clone the tool-table?

Its a good thing in this instance but i thought it odd that the table did not get copied.

Tool table, fixture offsets etc are all in the macro folder and that does not get cloned with a profile.
