Cann't find Mach3
« on: May 28, 2007, 02:29:18 PM »
Hi all, another newbie here.
I have been playing around with Mach3 and Lazy Cam. After downloading the latest LCam, everytime I try to convert my
DFX file to GCode it will start the process and end with "Error finding Mach3 file"
Has anyone had this happen or know the solution? I have tried two differant DFX files and both do the same thing.
Thanks for any help!!

Hi, olf20

In LazyCam goto Setup, Posting Options dose this match your Mach3\Gcode location ?

In some installs of Mach it will install in C:\Mach3R163... if you don't reset it to C:\Mach3\ and then install LazyCcam 2.02 it installs in C:Mach3\.

Maybe that's what is going on, Let us now.

Hope this Helps, Chip

Mach3 is in E:\Mach3, do I set Lcam to save the file to same?
Do I have to reinstall either?
Thanks ofl20

Hi, olf20

LazyCam is usually installed in the same folder as Mach3, So Yes, Or you may need to install it in E:\Mach3.

Thanks, Chip

I have the same problem and my files are in the right place. Whenever I reload a .lcam file, it will not generate the G code to Mach3, it says "File could not be opened" Very consistant, does it every time. Also I cannot load an Autocad .dxf if the Autocad program is running, have to quit ACad, then Lazycam will load the .dxf and I can set it up and send to Mach3, but if I close it out and reload that .lcam, it won't go to Mach3.

Hi all, I just found what I was doing wrong. At the top of the tool bar, next to HELP, click on OUTPUT. It will generate the Gcode and name the file, and load it to Mach3.
Thanks Chip for the help! That was part of my problem also. I did not have LCam configured correctly.

Hi olf20, yes I get Lcam to save the file, not sure it saves it correctly though, I see the file when I go to explore, however when I do a 'save as" I don't see that file, however it asks if I want to overwrite that file, that's why I'm not sure it's saving it properly. Mach3 will not load it.

Are you trying  to save a LCam project, or generate (post) Gcode?

It appears the LCam is saved and I can post to Mach3 at that time, however, if I close that file and reopen at in a later session, it opens, but if I try to Post code to Mach3, I get a Lazycam popup window that says "File could not be opened", am really confused. I've been fighting this for a week now, anytime I need to use a previously generated LCam file that I have saved, it won't work, I have to start all over with a dxf file
