basic controle question new to cnc

i got my cnc set up i think but in jog up and down make it go up and down but left makes it go right and right  makes it go left is that normal

Depends on the type of machine, you have to think in terms of the tool moving against the material it is cutting.
Left arrow should move the tool negative, right arrow positive.

oh fantastic yes right is + left is - thank you mine is set up now i have to learn the rest lol
