Pokeys57E Mach3 Win10 64bit
« on: April 29, 2016, 07:15:56 AM »
Hi,

I am trying to use Mach 3 on Win10 64bit with Pokeys57E and PoExtBusOC16CNC. I have followed Mach3 setup guide up to the point where I selected "Extrernal 4ch without IO" in Pulse Engine tab and restarted Mach3. Mach should detect a new motion control hardware and present a window where I can select Pokeys-Polabs control device. That window is not coming up though.
I did the same procedure on WinXP and the window showed up and motion control was working. So is there is a way to make it also work in Win10?

1. Make sure you have .NET 3.5 installed prior running PoKeys setup. Just run PoKeys application and Windows should install it automatically. After that, re-run the setup.
(The reason is that installer uses a tool from .NET 3.5 to register PoKeys communication library. We are transitioning to newer versions, but this may break compatibility with older systems...)
2. In Mach3, go to 'Function Cfg's > Reset device sel.' and restart Mach3 - this will reset the motion device selection

I have .NET 3.5 installed on my machine and I tried to Reset device set. but the window still did not come up. Anyway, I use that WinXP laptop now. I might try to also install Mach on a Win10 tablet later and see if that windows comes up.

I just installed Mach3/Pokeys on a Windows 10 32-bit mini-PC and found all sorts of weirdness. Motors were all over the place, when I jog to say +100, click "Go To Zero", it will go back but past the +0.000 to a negative value. Also started Mach3, the pop-up window to select the controller also doesn't come up .. just too many weird stuff. Used an XP PC, no problems so far !

that said, used the same mini PC, small little thing, ideal to hide away on a shelf and installed Mach4 demo and seems to run pretty well. I am very tempted to fork out another $200 for the Mach4 license, spent so much already, what is another $200 now ;D
