Mach config
« on: March 11, 2016, 06:03:38 PM »
Hi there .
here is the problem ....
I use Mach on a litle chinise CNC (6040) since 2011 without problems .
last month my old PC died ... :(
I bring another PC with the same configuration (Pentium 4 - 2.4Ghz  512Mo Ram with Windows XP )
I install the last version of Mach 3 (with the french patch )
and the configuration is perfect, when i started the first movement the machine run perfectly .
But .....
if i started the vdf spindel (not drived by Mach3 ) when the control box is powered , all the stepper motors jerking .
First i think i have a problem with the spindel, but it works like this for years with the old PC....
so i bring another PC with similar config (AMD  Athlon 1.9 Ghz 512 Mo Ram with Windows XP )
i install also the last version of Mach 3 (with the french patch )
I use the XML file to have the same configurations for Mach3
at this time when i started the vdf spindel ,with the control box powered th steppers motors are stables (no jerking)
but.... the steppers motors  growl and do not move.....
for informations the two windows are the same and the setting are similar.

I have just a question for you....
Why , the same Mach3 settings in two diffrents computers have diffrents results ? 1 good an 1 bad

thank you for your understanding for my bad english.

Eric

I have had the same thing, it seems that the parallel port can vary and be borderline on one pc and work well on another. Try increasing the pulse length in motor tuning a little, sometimes works.

Sounds like the new PC is more susceptible to noise from the VFD.

Thanks for your reply
yesterday i work on the machine an the pc.
first time i change the spindle wire , i put a isolated cable and put it on the ground .
the machine works better but i 'll have some jerky yet ...

i put the computer chassis to the ground also  and at this time the machine works fine .

only one question stay without answer, why the same parameters works diffrently with 2 diffrents computers ...

LOL That's a question that will remain unanswered for the duration of time.

I have had the same problem... I threw out both computers, and HOPEFULLY
the new PC (when it gets here) will be trouble free.

It can be very frustrating at times.
