mach3 run from here?????
« on: December 05, 2015, 09:38:57 PM »
Is there a way to stop in the middle of running mach3 and adjust the z axis ( or adjust the depth that im cutting at). and then continue cutting with my cnc? I'm cutting out detailed design logo's into wood. Sometimes the wood is slightly warped and half way through the job, I need to ne able to pause and set the depth or (z). Ay help would be great.

I've never had much luck with "Pause" or "Resume" in M3 working right... seems temperamental. Maybe someone else can make suggestions. Best bet is check the wood warp and make depth (Z) corrections in whatever design program you are using or clamp the wood to the table to remove the warp.

First thank you for the timely response. Ok let me see if I understand, Just hit STOP? write down the GCODE where i stopped. what do you mean by typing in thr z dro change?  Do I jog the router away from the work piece and zero out Z axis? I'm a little confused on Z change or how you set it to 5mm when you hit stop?

No do NOT hit stop. You will lose position.

Click Feeddhold, and wait until it stops, then click stop.

Then, what you can do, is jog away from the part, and use MDO to send the Z axis to zero. At that point, type in the new value for the Z position in the DRO.

Then, use run from here.
Practice in air with the Run from Here command before actually trying it, so you can get an understanding of how it works.

"Manual Data Input"  It's the input line/box where you type in one line commands.  Access it on the Mill screen by clicking on the "MDI" button at the top or pressing Alt/2.

Gerry is right, do not just hit stop.  That would not be good, feedhold and then stop.  Also, another suggestion, what about Torch Height Control?  I have zero experience with it but from my understanding you are able to move the Z while code is running with this control.
