runaway z axis
« on: August 18, 2015, 09:26:19 PM »
Had no response to z axis one morning. Upon keyboard strike all drives faulted.   After obvious troubleshooting determine gecko drive was bad as I switched out the z drive with the x and the z worked fine,
Got a new drive in today and after powering up the z axis wants to take off.   I assume this is the optic encoder gone bad as the dro does not move.
Am I right in my assumption?
Got a new encoder coming and hope this is the problem.
If it is what would make the encoder and drive fail at once?
