PC Help
« on: August 01, 2015, 10:50:46 PM »
Hello folks, I could use some advice on fixing my desk pc.
It has somehow gotten infestered with some sort of ***ware that plugs in little popup boxes all over the text on this forum topics.
Really slows me down too.
I left my pc on and connected overnight and now have this mess. >:(

Anyone know a proven way to fix it ?

Thanks if you can help,
Russ

RUss you have a walware attatck  can you back up to an earlier waypoint  in windows. Then run a good antimalware software to remove it. OR you may have a look at your installs/ipdates record and delete anything loaded in say the last week or 2. They may have very familar and officail sounding names. Just delete them 1 at a time until the problem dissapears.

Just a thought(;-) TP

Hi TP,
where do I find the "installs/update record" ?

I did run a windows scan which took over 5 hrs, found a couple trojans, removed them but no fix on the mess mentioned.

Also, do you know of a "good" malware remover SW ? ?
Thanks

Russ go to the Control panel then uninstall /change programs. Sort the list by install date. Delete anything YOU did NOT install.  ONCE you get it back up THEN create a restore point So that in the future if it happens again you can simply restore back to a known waypoint.

Just a thought, (;-) TP

Hey TP,

nothing shows up there. also tried a restore to last month ... no fixie.
The SpyHunter seems to have worked, found a bunch of junk.
Just hope it didn't load a bunch of it's own.

Much better .... for now.
Thanks guys,
Russ

Go to internet options & disable downloads in security folder. That will help stoping some of the crap coming in.
