Newbie trying to get Mach3 running as a simple 2.5D engraver
« on: April 29, 2007, 10:17:24 PM »
Got Mach 3 running based on the 'milling' macros. It's running X & Y just fine. Have set up Z as simple up & down ("2.5D" option set). In testing when Z is 0, the heads up. When any other value the head drops. Therefore seems to be working fine. But when trying to actually run a job, it makes multiple passes.

I'm importing a simple HPGL text graphic through LazyCam. You can see the generated Z code is making multiple passes at multiple depths rather then the simple "drop the head and make one pass".

Question ... how do I get Mach 3 to operate the Z axis as a simple up/down?

Thx ...

Hi, Ecm

Post your HPGL & Tap files, will look at it.

In LazyCam, Bottom right, Under Selected Layer, The  PassDepth (1.000) needs to be larger than CutDepth (-0.500) or Lcam will generate multi-cut path's.

If you have a center mouse wheel, Press it down in LC screen and move it you'll se the cut depth or multi-cut's.

Maybe that's It, Chip
