Pulley ratio value not saving to XLM file
« on: April 28, 2015, 02:57:38 PM »
Hi.
I originally posted this in FAQ but got no response ( plenty read it but no advice)
Setting up my PWM control spindle I enter the value 1.73 for the pulley ratio & this gives an accurate spindle RPM value ,but  when I close Mach3 & restart it the value has changed to 1.7. I've edited the Xlm file SPINRATIO1 to 1.73 using notepad & restarted MACH & the spindle ratio is 1.73, But when I close MACH it does not save this value just 1.7. Running on Rev 3.043.038 ( as Rev 3.043.066 has the problem with the analogue spindle speed control which was fixed in 3.043.36

Yep that is what it does, saves to the tenth.  May I ask what you are using the ratio for ?  Just curious.

TP, Thanks for the reply.
I think that's what I suspected.
I have fitted a single slot index wheel and a OPB982T5 slotted opto coupler to the motor spindle on my Emco mill as it was more convenient to fit it there rather than on the spindle. By entering the value 1.73 in the pulley ratio the requested speed DRO and  actual speed DRO on the MACH3 screen & the actual spindle speed ( measured with a temporally fitted TACH) all display the same RPM + or _ a couple of revs. I thought that was what the pulley ratio facility was for ?

You are correct. Most people do not understand how it works I was just checking to be sure.
