ESS problem
« on: April 28, 2015, 02:12:58 AM »
I have run into a problem where the ESS trips the steeper driver, bob into a fault and lock`s up M4.

I have tried restarts, hard and soft double check that everything is correct it is then if I go back to M3 I have to re install the ESS plugin to get it working again it does and runs fine then I go back to M4 and it happens again or the X and Z axis move then when I try to move Y it trips to a fault again it may do it a couple of times then just lock up..

the axis are set all correctly the Y has B slaved to it, A is for a 4th axis it turned off unless i am using it.

no I have not got the M4 licences yet I have to prove it better than M3 to get it.

I know there`s only 3 axis allowed for testing and that it is time limited.

the computer can run M4 I was using it with Darwin

so it`s something to do with the ESS or is that I have 4 axis running 3 + slave

Not sure what might be causing your issue, but the ESS on my machine just up and lost connectivity... Wakeup client wont respond and it appears to have lost its addess of 10.9.9.9  even if i type it in it wont save it. It was working fine, was configuring Limit switches and it up and quit. Very Strange!

I got it fixed bad setting just started again got to +/- 0.02 mm

if you have a licencee`s that should not happen there might be a limit to what can be connected in demo your problem is simaler to the problem I had  if you have a licencee`s only the CNC god`s will know

Glad to hear you got it working... some of these issues can be frustrating! I have traced my problem to power feeding home sensors. Something is causing the ESS to stop communicating. Remove power from sensors and it works. Must be a voltage issue that may require a resistor to be added...  I am running the demo version right now and i know it has an approx 20 minute time limit to it. I am holding off on buying the license until i can get everything working... then will buy it immediately. I would hate to purchase it then fight thru all the glitches and bugs. I have only 3 axis and 3 home sensors so i cant really see them putting a limit on that much in the demo version.

Hello, my name is Gerhard and i am trying around with mach4 since the first demo-release. I licensed the software and installed mach4.
The Version is Mach4Hobby.

I use the ESS-Plugin from the latest version. This is if i am right 19.04.2015.

I am running a machine with 5 motors, two of them are assigned to x axis, then i use 1 for y axis, 1 for z axis c-axis ist the tool changer and the a axis is the fourth axis.

In mach3 i use the following configuration:
Enable1 = Port 1 - Pin 17
Enable2 = Port 2 - Pin 17
Charge Pump = Port 1 - Pin 16
Charge Pump 2 = Port 2 - Pin 16

I tried out a lot but i can't activate the second board.
I also found no way to activate Carge Pump2, i think this is the main reason why it fails.

I tried to assign
Enable 1 to 1-16
Enable 2 to 1-17
Enable 3 to 2-16
Enable 4 to 2-17
No way...

Has anyone experience and can help me with further information?

Best regards,
Gerhard
