Mach3 acting crazy with backlash comp
« on: April 25, 2015, 03:11:27 PM »
I have a Hp laptop running windows 7 32bit, a usb DDSM6V5.0 6 axis controller and long stepper motors/drivers. I got everything tuned and working good. My issue is I am running 4 axis cutting ports out of 2 stroke cylinder sleeves. The g-codes run perfect as long as backlash is turned off. When I turn on backlash it goes VERY erratic and destroys the part as all 4 axis will start moving. Is this a issue with settings??? Thanks to all that reply

Sounds like a problem with your controller.  Mach 3 handles backlash fairly well if you do not have a large amount . With large amounts nothing works good.

Will the controller affect the dro? When this happens you can see it on the mach3 screen as all axis start moving amost as if they all we slaved together.

Mach can only display what the controller tells it to display.

So if I use a break out board will the pc then be the controller? Then the probe and backlash will not be an issue as i have read my controller does not work well with "probe-it" either.  so I can just get a bob to correct both issues . Sorry newbie....

Did you puchase a separate Mach3 license?
OR
Are you using the one supplied on CD that came with the USB device?

I have both. I purchased one off ebay through automationtechsinc. But I do have the version of mach3 and license that came with the controller loaded onto both computers I tried.

Your USB device is a one that I am not aware of.

Frankly, no one is going to provide you a LEGIT Mach3 license and controller board for $139.00.

Next, problems you have with that board should be addressed by the vendor. The board is taking care of
some of  the functions that Mach3 would normaly do. Unless someone on this site has specific knowledge about that board you are not going to get much help here.

Your backlash problem is a good example. It is not as easy as the Chinese may think.

Just trying to save you some time and avoid having other site users try to problem solve a matter that is not
MACH3 related.

It also does not like to do probing! It will do the manual commands like G31 X.5 F1 all day long without issues but if you try to use a probing screenset it goes crazy. If I get a BOB and use it with a parallel port will that take care of my issues? Thank you for your all help.
