New versions and Feed hold bug
« on: April 22, 2015, 04:05:41 PM »
Hello. Been using Mach3 for a while and few times router has done something very weird. Today I experienced major crash using this sequence:
- while running gcode, press Feed hold
- move Z up to clear bit
- press Cycle start to continue

This should be a standard procedure and also described on manual. What happened was a move to an unknown position which caused a crash of course. There is a video on Youtube about the same procedure - and about the same crash...

I have .066 version. Any plans to fix those bugs since Mach3 hasn't gotten any updates since long time?
I have read posts about .067 dev version. Worth downloading (and from where)?

You're probably better off going back to an older version, like 3.043.062

There will be NO updates or fixes for Mach3.

V067 was a special version created for an OEM for plasma use. I would back up to V.062 as was suggested.

Hello,
Thanks for your prompt reply. So there are known issues with the latest versions?

Downgraded to .62 and Feed Hold seems to work now (at least during one mill)
Run From Here seems to work somehow differently between .062 and .066.
I'm trying to use Feed Hold+Run From Here similar way than Feed Hold+Cycle start:

1. press Feed Hold
2. do your stuff
3. Press Run Frome here
4. <pointer returns to line nr 1!>

How can I continue program using Feed Hold + Run From Here?
As far as I remember, I used the method above with .066

You would do Feedhold until it stopped motion THEN " stop" THEN  run from here.

When you did the run from here did the RFH dialog box pop up ? IF not then you need to turn it on so you can see where Mach3 is going to go to get back to the start point. It will normally show you if it is going to do something stupid.

Hello. I knew that pressing Stop (after FeedHold) makes RFH to work properly. Just that it disables motors and exact positions are lost. So, the answer is probably: there is no equivalent way to use Feed Hold+Cycle start and Feed Hold+RFH. Thats fine as long as FeedHold+Cycle start really works. (and it seems to work now with .062).

IF you do it as I described you will not loose position.   Feedhold until motion stops, then STOP then RFH.

Mach3 shouldn't even allow you to use RFH during Feedhold. It should be forcing you to hit stop first.
