Old user looking for Master5 CNC software, have license
« on: February 27, 2015, 06:48:54 PM »
After being away from CNC for 12 1/2 years, I'm trying to get my old system to run again.

My old Master5CNC folder has my license data, but not the Setup.exe or Program files. Using W98.

My old machine is a John Kleinbauer machine using storefront aluminum as the frame. Anxious to start making another architectural model.  Can someone help me please?

Have never tried the Mach series and hate to spend money right now.

I think your licence will work fine for Mach3 but you would need to update the computer to W2000 or newer OS, but not a 64bit OS if you wish touse the parallel port.
If you want Master5 then likely a private message to Art would be your best bet.

Thanks very much for the reply. Computers change a lot in a dozen years. Parallel ports are just about obsolete. Hard to install old software on an old 32 bit desktop machine let alone a 64 bit laptop i am writing this on, lol.

Hopefully I will be filling the studio with foam dust this weekend. That's quite generous if they allow my old license to use Mach3.

Still futzing around with Master5. Am only able to get one axis to go up and down. The X if  remember correctly. Don't have a machine that has both a parallel port and windows 2000 or better. Maybe I will have to install a later version of windows than W98.

My later computers are all laptops.

I may have the files !
I am in a similar position - going back to CNC after years away. I have found some old master5 and mach1 .exe files and a pdf on an old hard drive.

I used it on an old W98 machine. I have no idea now if they are (all) the files needed for installation or operation.
They are about 2 to 3 MB each. I could email them maybe.
regards

Thanks jack and BR. Finally found the Master5 files, but having difficulties can only jog one axis.. Planning to upgrade another much better computer that has plent of ram and graphics power, with a parallel port and Windows 7, then will use Mach I expect. The parts are in the mail, might get it running next week or so.

Just be aware that it will have to be the 32bit version of W7 you use, 64bit is not supported  by Machs parallel port driver  and thus you need an external controller if using 64bit.

Too late now, looks like I have to travel that road. Don't see any other way to get it to work.
