USB Smooth Stepper & Mach 4
« on: February 03, 2015, 01:43:20 PM »
I have not seen or heard anything about the USB smooth stepper being supported under Mach4 and what features that will be supported.
Since parallel port support is limited to older machines and 32bit architecture I am looking for a supported Mach4 USB motion controller.
If anyone has experience with alternatives I would be interested in your conclusions.

Thanks

Bill A

Hi Bill,

It is my understanding that both Andy and Greg are working on the USB  SS / Mach4 plugin (when they can) but progress is painfully slow. My best advice is patience - it will be done some day.
But if you can't wait there are current alternatives, such as the PMDX http://www.machsupport.com/forum/index.php/topic,28294.0.html or even the EthernetSS etc. etc.

Thanks Tweakie. I contacted Steve Stallings and purchased PMDX 411. I'm finally getting to set up Mach4 with it.

Great news Bill - when you get the time please start a new thread and post your experience on setting-up and using the PMDX with Mach4 - this will no doubt be of interest to many others that follow.
