I am searching for a way to connect a Siemens S7-300 PLC to a Mach3 system and CS Lab ( retrofitting an old Mazak portal milling with toolchanger of 25 tools and a lot of operations before and must thereafter be carried out , including pressure control hydralickpress and compressed air flow , etc. )


A you tube video of a S7-200 I did find but that is different from the S7-300

A lot of people on the internet who say it can be done. But nowhere can I find out how it should be done exactly .
Does anyone have a manual or something. Or maybe an example of S7 Software how it is done.

Is there someone who has a manual or something like that.

If you are good at VB then you may not even need a PLC as the IP-S and IP-A can be expanded on the I/O.

I have used a PLC on my Chiron and it communicates with Mach via Modbus, not sure if your PLC is capable of doing that?

Siemens uses profibus or simolink as a standard. Modbus cards are available but not cheap as is most things related to Siemens product. I would look at Automation Direct PLCs as a cheaper and better alternative to Siemens. The S7-200 are an obsolete product and the S7-300 series on the way out as well.

Setting up serial modbus or TCP modbus?
Which one is the best or the most easy to set up?
