Boxford 160TCL SGS Thomson drive info
« on: September 14, 2014, 06:48:10 PM »
Good evening
I recently purchased a TCL 160.
I am looking to integrate with Mach3 and with as little fuss as possible.
On the Thomson driver board, there is a plug/socket that was routed to the old BBC (or similiar) computer, via another circuit board. I have removed this cable and plan to run directly into a breakout board.
My question is; what do the initials on the board mean?
There is:
CL6
CL5
XD
XC
ZD
ZC
ENA
DIR
ANG

I am guessing the XD and XC are 'direction' and 'clock?' (step?) respective, for 'X' axis.  Am I correct? The machine cost me a pretty penny and don't want to take any chances. What are the other pins for?
The machine is a lathe, so has X and a Z axis.  It also has the original 8 tool changer.
Is the tool changer easy to setup? Has anyone got a similar one working successfully?
Any help is most appreciated.  Thanks

Kind regards, Jack
