Retrofitting a cnc mill

I have a 1987 comet 3 axis cnc mill with a trak cnc2 controller.
I cant get the y axis to move, displays a vel fault.
I would like to upgrade to mach 3.
Will I be able to use any of the existing equipment.
The servos are indiana general 4040d 280 oz. 70volt brushed.
not sure the type of rotary encoder on the end of the motor.
The sensors are the gage wheel type for the dro
I put a pic in the gallery.

Not really sure if you would be able to keep anything but your motors are well within the voltage for Geckos, CNC Teknix etc drives. You will need to find out the current requirements of the motors to determine if indeed you can use Geckos or Teknix.
 If your original drives are OK you can probably use them if you get digital to analogue converters such as the pixie boards.
 You will really need to find out the info on your encoders, find out their count, or for that matter whether they are actually encoders as they may even be resolvers.
