Mach3 Mill with Windows 8.1 Pro install problem
« on: April 07, 2014, 02:34:41 AM »
Can any one help me with this, I would appreciate it.
General Info: I have 3 Axis Milling using PCI Serial Parallel port going to a CNC4PC Break Out Board C11 Multifunction V9.6, using Mach3 V3.043.066.
I had a perfectly running system using Windows XP, then my Mother Board died and I upgraded to Windows 8.1 Pro with a 4.00 GHz processor, 16 GB RAM, using a 32-bit system.

I understand the Mach3 is operational up to Windows 7. I have downloaded the Mach3 V3.043.066 then made it compatible with (tried XP, Vista & Windows 7) then ran the program with each compatible option. The PCI has a current driver and says it's functioning correctly and is unplugged to the CNC.
Each time I try to install the program, it wants to install the PCI Parallel driver. At this time I always get "System Thread Exception not Handled" and then reboots the computer. So, my install is not installed correctly or completely & the Driver Test will not open. When the Parallel cord is attached, nothing is connecting even with the all the ports and pins configurations optioned as before.

Does any one have any ideas on what to try...  A bit frustrated at losing my XP.

First, why would you have 16Gb of Ram in a 32 bit version of Windows, which can only use 3Gb?

Second, it sounds like you're trying to use compatibility mode to run Mach3? If so, it won't work. You can't use the parallel port with Mach3 in Windows 8.
You either need to remove Windows 8 and install a 32bit version of Windows 7, or you need to use an external motion controller, like a Smoothstepper or UC100.

I wanted to thank you for the Mach3 issue using Windows 8, I have ordered the UC100 and hopefully it will resolve my issues.
Thanks again.

BSOD are usually the result of defective hardware or bad drivers.

System Thread Exception not Handled
on my pc
 >:(

It's always a result of corrupted drivers, and in some cases, it was caused by failure hardware. To diagnose this System Thread Exception Not Handled BSOD error, you can download one of these tools first:

- WhoCrashed: http://www.resplendence.com/whocrashed
- BlueScreenView: http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/blue_screen_view.html

And then use any of them to analyze your crashes and find out which one has caused this issue. The tool will point out to you the system file/driver that caused this error.

If you aren't able to access your computer, you need to boot into Safe Mode with Networking and try from there. If you don't know how to boot into Safe Mode, here are some ways you can force your PC boot into Safe Mode, even it's crashed.

https://win10tips.net/windows-10-safe-mode/

After you know the exact cause of the System Thread Exception Not Handled BSOD error, you can take an appropriate step to get rid of it. For example, if a corrupted driver caused it, then you need to reinstall that driver. Or if a corrupted system file created it, you should use System File Checker tool to scan for that corrupted file and repair it. Here are a few methods you can try to get rid of this error.

Get W7 up and running.
Install Mach3 .062 - NOT .066.
Run machine.

Cheers
