CSMIO IP/S MPG Jog issue
« on: March 15, 2014, 05:45:36 AM »
Hi,

After updating CSMIO firmware(three updates ago incl. the latest 2.200) when using the MPG the mowement was not smooth anymore.
Before the update the steppers moved VERY smoth when using the MPG in all scale settings, but now the steppers sound like a sick bird!
Please check attached sound file(Play it in Windows Media Player).
It sounds like it is something wrong with the acceleration, but i can not find any place to adjust the acceleration for the MPG.
Adjusting acceleration in Motor Tuning does nothave any effect on the MPG.
When running a G-code, or jogging with arrow keys, the steppers are running smooth as silk!

Anyone had the same issue or maybe have a suggestion how to solve it?

Controller: CSMIO IP/S
MPG: CSMIO-MPG
Drivers: Kinco 2M2280N

Have you contacted CS Labs?

No, I have not done that yet, it seems to be many smart people on this forum, and I was hoping to solve the problem this weekend.

Go back to the previous version and see if the problem goes away.
I updated my Chiron today to 2.2 and never noticed any difference but it is servo and using an IP-A.
I have an IP-S on a lathe but have not updated,  it too has servos but if I get a chance I will update on Monday (having a day off to do paperwork tomorrow :( ) and see if there is a change.

Just tried 2.2 plugin on the wee lathe and its fine. As said I use servos so probably not a perfect comparison.

Update:

Contacted CS-Lab and they have now found the problem, they did not say what it was, but it will be fixed in the next plugin version.

Good they found it, hopefully it will be updated soon. I have found CS-Lab to be very good at that, any issues reported are fixed up quickly and an update posted, all usually within a week at most.

I have two machines with CSMIO IP/S and my experience with CS-Lab is also very good!
I first tried other controllers(will not mention brands), but the CSMIO IP/S is absolutely fantastic and in a class of its own!!!

Ha ha dont think I would recommend someone goes that far ;D

I have the IP-S and the IP-A and have fitted an IP-M to a small machine I did for someone else. All three are excellent, the IP-M obviously the basic one but of the other 2 the IP-A edges out in front due to the feedback to Mach, of course for that you need analogue capable servo drives.

Similar issue here. Wheel causes jerky motion, all other runs smooth.
Will there be a firmware update?
