« on: February 02, 2014, 03:38:23 PM »
Simple question from a complete newbie
How do I stop the spindle from spinning for a drag knife?

THANKS!

Don't start it.
If your g-code is starting it, then edit the code or the post to remove M3 commands.

The code starts it.
A video by Donek, the company I bought the knife from, says to edit the code below then select the edited file as my post processor.
The example they used was a shopbot file where it read in the code "turning router on" then code following it.
Not knowing anything about g-code yet, without that "turn on / off...." text I'm clueless.

THANKS!

What is the actual software program you are using to generate your gcode, and what Windows operating system are you using with that program?

I assume it's a Vectric program, but which one?

OK, I see that the partial Vectric post processor file you posted is a Cut2D file

All you need to do is delete only the lines that have M03 in them, no others, and save the file with a new name as the video explained.  In my copy, there are two such lines.
