Mach3Screen, Screen4, MachScreen current program state?
« on: December 11, 2013, 01:30:19 PM »
I was away for a very long time from this forum, from Mach3 and CNC, and there used to be three screen designers.
It seems I was using a mixture of Screen4 and MachScreenV1.39, MachScreenV1.40.
Please tell me the state of
Mach3Screen? (last known to me of september 17, 2005)
Screen4? (last known to me of  january 11, 2008)
Where are they available from, or perhaps built-in if at all, or declared dead.

Mach3 I am at level R3.042.038 R3.042.040.

The documentation I am aware of is still around, at http://www.machsupport.com/Mach3Wiki

I'm aware that MachScreen is alive, and is currently at state MachScreenV1.59c. And button script editing operations can be done in Mach3.

Thanks.

Peter.

Screen3 and Screen4 haven't changed, and are available here.

I did not expect them to be available under the heading "screen sets" exclusively, please accept my apologies.

What is the meaning of Screen4, A scrolling Screen Designer, unzip to the Mach3 folder.

- should there be a folder Mach3\Screen4, or should the contents of Screen4 folder go directly into Mach3?
- is there any interaction, perhaps a menu command within Mach3, that opens Screen4?

I already tried with a folder Mach3\Screen4, but nothing happens. I hesitate to put Screen4 directly into Mach3.

The ReadMe of Screen4 contains Copy all 4 files to your Mach3 folder.., but Screen4 contains three .txt files, and four .bmp files.

- which 4 files are intended? or all 7 mentioned files? and will these files actually go into Mach3 or into Screen4?

Don't make a Screen4 folder, just put all the files in the Mach3\ folder.
No, there's no interaction between Mach3 and Screen4. But you do need to specify the Mach3 location inside of Screen4 under the Default menu.

MachScreen:  (by Klaus Dietz)

I could not confirm, how to change the font of an item, specifically Profile on page 0. I would need a smaller font size, to display longer profile names there.

I could not confirm, what DRO/Button/Led is displayed in the "field" Profile at all, just to be oriented on usage of MachScreen. That is, what is its type. It seems that the text Profile is replaced by the actual profile name. and Profile is just a label?  Is there a list of the interpreted Labels?

Mach3Screen: I also could not resolve the questions.

Screen4: blocks on Windows 8. as far as I remember, it blocked since Windows XP.

I thank in advance for help. Maybe there are various, or official guides that I  do not recall, as I did screen a few years back.

You can't change the font size of anything in Mach3. Fonts are scaled to the height of whatever they are in.
You can change the actual font in Mach3 itself, but not the size.
Sorry, but I don't use Machscreen.

Sorry, but I don't use Machscreen.
I'm interested in what do you use for screen editing?

Screen 4. I'm still running XP for a few more months. At the current time, I have no plans to do any more Mach3 screen editing.

I was able to do the little changes needed with MachScreen.

What version of Mach3 is recommended to use? Our machine was delivered with Mach3 R3.041 of year 2008. Their homepage still says 3.041, at the same time linking to machsupport.com for download. We were using Mach3 R3.042.038 for a few years, since 2010. Is it sound practice to install version Mach3 R3.043.066?

I thank you in advance for your opinion.
