scaling of project in Mach3 ??
« on: December 04, 2013, 04:14:25 PM »
Hi Guys,

My mach3 controller seems to think my model is bigger than it is - all tool paths display correctly on the table screen, but it jogs the machine out to a size that seems about twice as big as the file was set up.

I've spent about 8 hours working this but just can't figure it out.

I am creating code in inches in Cut3d and using my Mach3 software in MM native units - could this be it?

I am cutting this on one of the Chinese 3040td desktop cnc machines.  And no, this is not my first experience with CNC - previous owner of full sized shop cnc over the years!  :D

Thanks for your help!

Joe

First thing I'd do is try one of the Cut3D mm posts, rather than an inch post. Is the model in inches? If so, scale the model to mm's in Cut3D if you can.
Or even better, configure your machine in inches if those are the units you work with.

A bug was discovered last week when running inch code on a metric Mach3 setup, but I don't know if that's what you're seeing.

Thanks Gerry - gave it a shot and still have same problem.

I created a new profile completely in metric on Mach3 and created complete metric tool-paths in cut3d - do you think this is the bug?

I have no idea, as I don't use a metric profile.

for some reason I can't open the Motor Tuning window - can click on it but it wont open.

my previous settings were
400
400
400

these were provided by the manufacturer of the CNC
