I can jog but I can't run !
« on: November 04, 2013, 12:59:02 AM »
I am fairly new to cnc.  I am using mach3 with a uc100 usb controller on a windows 8 laptop.  I have a cnc mogul machine.  My problem is that when I start mach3 I can't run a gcode file.  I can jog the machine with my keyboard controls, but the movement doesn't show on the mach3 display.  Nothing happens when I try to start a gcode run.  The gcode files seem to load alright, and I can see the picture of the toolpath.  The profile that I use is the one that was included with the machine.  (I wouldn't have a clue how to set up my own profile yet)  I have tried reloading mach3, the controller drivers, and the profile several times.  I replaced the circuit board (breakout board?) that the motors and computer plug into but no luck.  The only other part between the computer and the motors is the uc100 usb controller.  I will try replacing that if I don't find any suggestions here.  I still feel it's a software problem, but I'm just too new to cnc to know where to start.  I just want to get back to cutting signs because my router is just awesome when it works right.  Thanks in advance.  Sean

Hi Sean,

Welcome to the forum.

I am sure you have already done this but you need to correctly install and enable the plugin as per details here http://cncdrive.com/MC/UC100%20datasheet/UC100%20users%20guide.pdf

Within Mach3;  Config / Config Plugins  check that it is enabled.

you know,  I did notice one weird thing a couple times during uc100 software re-installs.  The auto installer requires a re-start of the computer.  It has kind of a two step process.  Well I noticed that it took a three step process sometimes.  I don't remember the particulars, just that the install wasn't the same every time.  I found that odd.  Any ideas?  Oh and thank you for the welcome.
