I have been building this machine for nearly 18 months, it is nearly completed except for some of the finer details, they seem to take the longest time to complete

Wow, very nice machine!  What's the maximum X/Y travel?

I like the blue finish, is that paint or anodized?

You're so right about the little details.  The so-called "simple" stuff needs the most thinking time to get right usually.

Hi Dickeybird, the X- travel is 850mm, the Y- travel is 720mm Z- travel is 150mm, the paint is called hammered finish it comes in four different colours and in a spray can, purchased at the local hardware store, it does not need primming just clean and spray.

Very cool build, may I ask what spindle you're running in there? Looks like and ER style collet setup?

Hi Dave, the spindle is a 12 volt dc and has an 11ER collet set up, very cheap on e-bay $69.00AU from China, runs real good  but only good for small carving jobs with timber plastics etc but a bit underpowerd and slow for Aluminium.

Interesting term, this "completed" word you use. I've seen it before describing a machine build, but it's always used with other words such as "nearly" or "almost". If you ever get there, clue us all in, we would love to actually see one. Personally I think it's a myth like the chupacabra or bigfoot.
