  I need to program a plug in for a laser distance sensor. The sensor data interface is RS-232 and a custom data format. I have looked through the brains section and the macro pump sections and found no support to read and write data to a com port. It looks like writing a plugin is my best route. The plug in wizard and sdk on the downloads page don't work with VS 2010 and 2012 express edition. Can anyone tell me what alternatives I have? I cannot find a download for 2008 express. Is it necessary to purchase the pro version? I found a thread where someone had noticed the install of the plugin wizard didn't put the wizards folder into the documents/visual studio 2010  folder. I moved it and the wizard shows up but then reports a failure with no other dialog. The failure message is on the lower left with no other detail. I would appreciate any guidance.
