Motor tunning
« on: May 31, 2013, 09:43:44 AM »
When you set up your motor tuning.
If you want to increase the feed of the motor in the X, Y, Z, Axis
Can you do this in the config, motor tuning,  leaving the steps per as is,
and changing the  the velocity and acceleration.
I have not tried it yet, but I'm assuming the steps per stay was originally setup
is this correct?
Thank you

As you suspect, you should never change the steps per unit for anything once it is correct.
Yes Velocity is the rapid speed you can achieve, Acceleration is how fast it gets to that velocity.
Often acceleration is better to have than Velocity, for example if you can achieve 100IPM but you find the max accel at that is 2 I/s/s but if you drop down to 90IPM you may be able to get much higher accel. The benefit that will give  will be better tracking when using constant velocity so less chance of corner rounding issues. Also machining time may well decrease as if you have a lot of short moves the faster acceleration will allow the axis to actually achieve the programmed velocity where low acceleration may mean the programmed Velocity is never reached.
