Soft limits switch
« on: April 23, 2013, 07:48:30 AM »
Hello  there,
I have recently  got  myself a  CNC  machine  and  run it  under  Mach3
There  are  no  Home  switches  on  the  machine,  but i have  set  up  the  limits on  the  workbench  in Config/Homing/ Limits
It  works  fine  when I  activate  the  Soft Limit  Switch in Mach3,  but i  do  not  seem  to be  able to  make  it  work  when  am  running a  job  in  the  machine,
Then  the Soft  Limits  do  not  work  at  all,
Am i  missing  something  here ?
Any  help  would  be  much  appreciated
Einar

You need to home your machine for softlimits to work. That does not mean you need home switches although that is obviously preferable.
If you dont have home switches you can jog X and Y fully negative and Z fully positive then press RefAll button. That will set the machine coords to zero and your soft limits will now work as Mach knows where it is.
You will however have to do that each time you start Mach and you must be able to repeat that position accurately before you press the RefAll button or the softlimits will be worthless.
