Frustrated with code
« on: February 03, 2007, 11:30:53 PM »
I have mach 3 set up in inch mode, if I import a supplied g code such as "roadrunner", I have no problem running it. If I draw something on Vector or any other cad, export it as dxf to lazy cam, clean it up etc. and click for g code, it writes the code in metric, I have poured over the program for hours and cannot seem to find what I am doing wrong. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
Terry

Thanks for reply Ryan, I'm afraid I am not that computer literate to be able to post as you ask. However I have gone over the g code and nowhere is there a G20 or G21 in it.

You might check the initialization string in the general config for a G21

Thanks Gary, the only entry in the initialize line is G80

Ryan here is the code that shows up in metric even tho everything is set for inch. The G20 inches, I put in with the editor.

Terry when you open Mach look at the upper right hand portion of the screen. Art has Mach default to G20. You will see a string of g words there. See the attached photo showing the G20 in the string at the upper right hand corner.

Thanks for the reply Mike, my screen has the G20 in the top right line of code, however it still posts the G code in metric. The g codes supplied with the program work fine, it is just when I draw something in cad, export in DXF, open in Lazycam, clean up and click on g code, it posts it in the run screen in metric.

Terry,
Can you post the DXF file?

It sounds more like the DXF file is metric
