stepper squealed
« on: February 15, 2013, 02:12:35 PM »
dear gentle men: i was cutting blue foam on my new home built router, all was going fine when a stepper let out a loud squeal and then ruined the part. is this loosing steps?
i,m trying to set my steps per unit I'll use my dial indicator  today.
what do you think happened? thank you very much, also since all 3 axis are using 1/2" single start 10 pitch acme screws , shouldn't the steps per be the same on all 3 axis?
thanks again, Richard from watts, OK. out.

Yes that is your motor losing steps, you likely have the acceleration set too high in motor tuning.
If all axis are the same pitch screws, same gearing between motor and screw, same microstepping on drive and all 1.8 degree steppers then they will all be the same steps per unit.
