Newbie Looking for help Re: Sherline advice or documentation
« on: February 07, 2013, 02:03:00 PM »
I am currently trying to set Mach 3 on a Sherline lathe using a new Sherline controller.  At this point I can get one axis to jog or move in respones to G Code inputs, but in one direction only (regardless of whetheror not I use positive or negative inputs.
Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks again,
Norm :-[

Hey Norm, Welcome!

Attach your xml file and I'll have a look.  It will be in your mach3 root folder with the .xml extension.  Name it something unigue to upload it.

You only have the Y axis enabled. Do you have the correct pin set for the Dir signal? Check the wiring to make sure the Dir signal wiring is not loose.

Hi Brett,
Thanks for the advice.  My brain must have been in neutral (I was focusing on changing port numbers (I only have one).  The problem was with my pin numbers which I was able to find through trial and error fairly quickly. Thanks again for the advice.
For reference X Axis Step Pin #5, Dir Pin #4, Port #1 used for both
Y Axis Step Pin #3, Dir Pin #2, Port #1 used for both
Thanks again,
Norm
