XP Freezes Up
« on: December 10, 2012, 08:16:40 PM »
I am in need of some help.  I have a new fresh XP Pro SP3 install on a Dell Optiplex 760 (Core 2 Quad 3 GHz, 3G ram).  When I install Mach3 with the parallel port drivers and just have it run through on of the sample programs after a few minutes it freezes up.  I mean that XP freezes and is not responsive to any inputs or anything.  This is the type of freeze that takes holding the power button down for about ten seconds.  Now if I remove the parallel port driver it will run all day long without a problem.  I am running Mach3 R3.043.066, any ideas?

Thanks,
Alan

Alan,
After your fresh XP install, did you run Windows Update?  Takes some time to get all of the updates (usually necessary to run Win. Update several times to fully update).

Yes I did update until stable.  Also during the Mach3 install I never did see the message to reboot but from reading the manual I did reboot right after the install.

What have you got the kernel frequency set to?
On the diagnostics page what does the Time in Int read?
