VFD+Brain Powtran PI8100a via ModBus
« on: November 05, 2012, 01:11:50 PM »
Hello all,

we have build an CNC Router with an High Frequency Spindel (700hz, 42.000 RPM), this Spindel is driven from an Powtran PI8100a VFD.
This VFD is connected via RS485 ModBus to Mach3. I use an USB to RS485 Converter, the communication does already work.
The Adapter is on COM Port 5, the VFD has the ModBus Address 8, Comm Setting 19200 8-N-1.
I'm able to Control the VFD via Modbus Test Dialog in Mach3, in Register 4096 i can set via BIT 2 the direction an via BIT 5 run and stop, so far so good.
But I'm didn't find the register for the Frequency, I'm not able to control the speed via ModBus ;(
But i have absolute no clue an no luck to get the spindle work with the Control Buttons in Mach3, i used an Brain that were developed for Hitachi X200, but I'm not
able to get it work.
I hope someone can help me with that issue, and excuse my English.

I have attached the communication protocol for the PI8100a.
And here is the Link for the whole manual:
