Video card question - Onboard vs Seperate video card
« on: September 21, 2012, 10:57:14 AM »
ArtSoft says Mach3 needs a seperate video card rather than using the motherboard integrated video. Anybody here know why that is?

Onboard Video cards can cause issues with the drivers timing. It may not be a problem or it may, just depends how things are implemented on that specific motherboard. This is only a concern if you are using the parallel port, if using an external device then you dont have to worry as the external device does the pulsing so the video card cant interfere with the timing.

I'm using SmootheStepper and a USB connection. I guess I don't have to worry, then.

Thanks, again!

I know this is an old topic, but a timely question as I work to resolve my 64bit questions.  Thanks Hood.
