Thanks for the replies. Did some further testing on the motor and found that one of the windings is open. A new motor is on the way, and hopefully that fixes things.

I will do some checking on the ground v. common issue, but I'm pretty sure that my BOB common is at ground potential. Therefore I could eliminate one or the other to remove the loop issue.
