ProtoTrak-MX2 Conversion To MACH 3/4?
« on: January 17, 2007, 08:53:11 PM »
Hello All,
I'm new to the forum and to Mach CNC Software. I have acquired a Southwest Industries ProtoTrak MX-2 version CNC mill.
This is a Bridgeport Style mill with 2 axis (X-Y) cnc control. The computer which runs the cnc is unstable, I think due to its age and level of abuse.
It appears that the Mach software has numerous functional advantages over the original software from ProtoTrak.
My question is: would the Mach software be a good retro fit for this problem? Does anyone here have experience changing a system like this over to the Mach software?
I would assume since the machine has the motors and readouts in place this conversion would not be too hard.
Thanks In Advance for your input!

Mach is suitable for anything. It will even reduce stress.  ;D.
No, really, it should work great for you. I'm not familiar with that machine. Some of the others probably will be. If you can, post some pictures and any info that may help.

I see that this six year old post was never completed, does anyone know how to convert the MX2 files into any other lanquage?
