Boring a Taper
«
on:
August 06, 2012, 11:31:37 AM »
I am attempting to bore a taper e.g. MT-2 in an aluminum block on my mill.
Have done so on the lathe using the taper wizard.
So far I haven't found a method for the mill.
Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

A taper reamer or ball nosed cutter and lots of ever decreasing circles is the only way unless you have a U spindle fitted

Was afraid that was the answer. Had hoped that someone may have modified a circle wizard.
So far I have made a tapered reamer on the lathe, milled 3 cutting surfaces and filed teeth in them.
Guess for now thats the answer.
Thanks
