Really need help
« on: July 18, 2012, 10:36:42 PM »
Hi, I have been running my 3axis cnc on windows xp for a few years, the computer is tired, so I loaded the program on a newer HP  with Vista. The download went fine, the driver test worked first time. The new computer of course did not have a parallel port so I purchased one and installed it. My problem is the program comes up fine however there is no power to the board. I went into device manager and clicked on the parallel port properties, it shows LPT3 , in the Mach program settings the LPT address is 0x378. Is that not the address for LPT1? Any ideas? I know enough about computers to be dangerous, so if you know what is wrong please keep it simple.
Thanks for any help you can offer.
Terry ???

You need to open up the device properties page in device manager and look at the address that's been given for the external parallel port card and then input that address into mach3.
