Circular bolt pattern wizzard question
« on: July 11, 2012, 11:10:47 AM »
I am looking to drill a bolt pattern on the race car hubs I'm building, when I put X=0 Y=0 in the wizard it doesn't put the origin in the center. to get it close it takes  X= -2.55 Y= -3.5. That gets it close but no way to tell for sure where the actual start point is.

Am I overlooking something? I thought the origin would be the center of the circular pattern.

You either need to precisely locate the center of the hub and zero the current part coords OR know precisely where the center is in relation to an X/Y reference point on the fixture.

I'm zeroed on the center of the hub on the program that is running now, I used Mach3 on my cad pc to see if I could use the wizard. when I posted the gcode in the wizard the origin was outside the circle looking at the wizards display. do I need to be on the CNC pc hooked to the mill for the wizard to know where the origin is?

The wizard display will show the x/y position outside of the pattern IF the Part coord dros are not at the 0-0 position.
Press Go TO Zeros on the Mach Run screen, then enter your data into the wizard and hit Post Code.
All should center up as long as nothing changes your offsets.
