Mach3 machine startup problems
« on: July 02, 2012, 03:51:47 PM »
I am new to mach3 and am trying to set up a small gantry cnc machine.

As soon as I start and press reset the machine runs to a stop switch and will do nothing until moved back off the stop. I can't run a test or set limits etc.

Any suggestions.

Is it servo? Could be motors wired up the wrong way.
If its steppers then the only thing I can think of it being is severe electrical noise.

Thanks for reply and sorry for delayed response. I have been having computer problems.

The are stepper motors.

What I cant understand is why is mach3 moving the motors without specific instructions.

i tested the output pins on the lpt port and 1, 2, 3, 4, and 13 appear to be active when mac3 diagnostic screen indicates 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8 are active.

What does all this mean? What can I do to identify if the problem is mach3 or elsewhere?
