How to import 3D files for 3dworks
« on: June 28, 2012, 12:37:14 PM »
Just getting started with the program and moving on to 3d design.. except I have no idea where to start.

Does lazy cam interpret a dxf file to 3D works for gcodes? If not, does anyone know where i would be able to find a program that translates a 2D design to 3D dimensionality?

Does AutoCad do this for me if I save it as a .DXF and then open that with lazy cam?

No

You can use Autocad to create a 3d file from a 2d file by defining / manipulating the profiles and then save the file in a 3d format for use by CAM programs to convert it to code. Lazycam will not do that for you.
Cambam can provide 3d code if given a 3d file, but, it's code generation is not as elaborate as CAM programs meant to that task.
