man my laptop crashed and along with it the links to all the sites I WAS ORDERING PARTS FROM. who knows where I would get my hands on a cheap 1000 line shaft encoder. Im looking and all I can find are the rotary encodars that have a shaft already on them.

Look in the links section, electronics. Digikey, automation direct, allied to name a few.

usdigital.com have encoders, seem to be pretty good price.

yeah it was usdigital.com that had the good deal. thanks. I actual found the website printed on the side of an encoder I already had. talk about right under my nose
