Max CL and Step/direction Hybrid
« on: April 21, 2012, 12:19:38 PM »
I have a Bridgeport BOSS 6 mill with a break out board controlled by Mach3.  The machine has the original hardware drivers controlling the steppers.
Mach3 is programmed in Max CL mode which auto assigns the motor outputs and drives them with Quadrature signaling.

I have converted one Axis to a Gecko drive.
The Gecko uses step and direction instead of Quadrature signaling.

How can I configure Mach 3 to continue to control the two other axis as before, but send step and direction outputs to the Gecko for the 3rd axis?

Dont think it is possible unless maybe with a SmoothStepper as it can be set for quadrature on any axis. Never tried it myself but I have heard some use it..
