Flash action script commands
« on: March 06, 2012, 05:14:44 PM »
Hello, I'm very new to Mach3 however, I have a bit of experience with Flash.
I'm wondering if someone could direct me to a forum or send me to a document that has all the basic Mach commands/codes for Flash.

If you don't know what I'm referring to, please go to this link -> http://www.machsupport.com/videos/movies/howto/flvplayer.swf and then go to the action script segment.
It's almost half way through the video.

Thank you very much!

-Benjamin

As far as I know, there isn't one.

Hi, thanks for your response.
If there's nothing like this available then how are so many people making functional flash mach screens?
I'm starting from scratch and I don't know the commands for the Buttons and the DROs to function in Mach3.

Not counting Zealous, who worked with Art to get Mach3 to have Flash support, I've only seen maybe 2-3 other people create functional Flash screens.

There is a sample Flash screen that you can download (I think it's in this forum somewhere) and use to figure most things out. I created a working Flash screen using it, with no previous Flash knowledge. But with no documentation, I couldn't do any of the more complex stuff, so I went back to using standard Mach3 screens.

Well thank you so much for your quick replies, this is something that's most likely going to take a few months of exploring of course. Then I have to figure out how to take that flash file and put it into Mach3 some how....
I guess I could just transport all my stuff into Screen4 besides the buttons which I doubt will function in it.

Thanks

Ben,

I did one you can also look at, it is under finished flash screens, it is a reproduction of the OEM lathe screen.

between it, and the "Mach Nation" screens you should get a handle on it.

Note the plugin, will only handle AS2 style code, also, you will need to publish your screen under the flash 8 player. (see the threads talking about that).
Basically, if you want to run VB from flash you can as well, see some of the other examples or answers under the flash screen stuff.

Jason, did some EXCELLENT work, on the flash stuff, even made some "Graphics packs" and a components set, put a HUGE amount of time into it, and offered them for sale for
a ridiculously small fee, compared to the MONTHS of work he put in. He did not get many sales, so, he kinda gave up on pursing it.

Somewhere on Brains back burner, when he gets around to it, or if he does, the plugin will be upgraded to handle AS3 as well. But, I suspect all of that may not be even on the horizon until M4 is out and been out for a while.......

There ARE some major R&D time in producing a Flash Screen. In general (for me at least), it takes about 3-4 times as long to dev a flash screen. Jayson can do it in about 1/3 of that time, and put flying monkeys in it! :)
