I am Lost. Parallel port Q!
« on: March 02, 2012, 06:44:12 PM »
Guess I should say hello. New at this, setting up a machine. By trade I am a Silver & Goldsmith. w/ some cnc machining under my belt. Live in Central MN.
I have a Shirline mill set up by Microkinetices. The card that ran the machine went out and I am not going to replace it. Because it was a dos base program.
Can some one tell me how to set this up. Or do I need to go another route?
I get Pin one, But what is M1clock. Then pin 14 is limit M1-. Then I have a to limit switches plug. I don't have a clue! See att.

What controller are you considering to replace the existing one?
I want to die in my sleep like my grandfather, not like the passengers in the car! :-)

M1 clock is Motor 1 step pin.

Pin14 is the parallel port pin #.  In the PDF, the left hand chart is the parallel port pins. You plug the parallel port cable into this. The limit switches plug into the 15pin connector. The chart on the right lists which pins on the 15 pin connector correspond to the parallel port pins.
