CNC machine i been working on...........
« on: February 28, 2012, 09:29:02 PM »
I been about couple of months that i have been working on this machine. The plans are taken form the buildyourcnc.com book design free pdf. The linear system that the machine used is the aluminum angle w/t ball bearing and the linear driver is a 4' all threaded lead screw. The wood that i have used is MDF. Basically i follow the entire book from step to step expect some stuff. I was only allowed to put only 4 pic,
i didn't had any good wood cutting system so the pieces cut were not very persice which led to machine being not so great, but still very pleased "The problem that i facing right now is if i tighten the screws too much the gantry gets stiff but hard to move. If i loosen them then the gantry get wobbly thus still pretty precise cuts but no big stuff".

Hi CNCexplorer,

Excellent job you have done and it looks like you are well on your way to making a very useful machine. As I am sure you have already found "everything is a compromise" and usually with tight financial restraints.
The gantry slide system you have used is extremely difficult to set-up so that it is fully true and parallel but others, before you, have succeeded with this design and achieved excellent results. Should It prove troublesome and assuming finances will allow, you could perhaps consider fully supported linear rails (similar to attached pic) as these may, I think, be far easier to set-up.

Tweakie.
PEACE

@Tweakie.CNC no dout about it that the aluminum rail system is very hard to set up, i would love to use a the leanear ball bearing rail system if i get a good deal or birthday gift ;). But for now its seems that i had to get the best out of what i got. here is some more pics....
i have been playing around with engraving and profiling using cambam here are some of the result i have got so far.
